EuroFAQ is written and maintained by an independent group of journalists, businessmen, politicians and academics who believe Britain's membership of the European Union has been a political and economic disaster. We seek Britain's withdrawal from the European Union and believe that the whole of Europe, in the 21st century, needs to supercede the obsolete 1950s 'bloc' mentality typified by the European Union and its institutions.
EuroFAQ maintains no party political line. Our mailing list serves as a forum for individuals throughout Britain, Europe and worldwide. We welcome contributions from all readers provided these are constructive and non-emotive.
All the figures we use are authoritative. They are often taken from government statistics or from those of the European Union itself. Students will find them useful in essays and projects, while schools use EuroFAQ as a means of providing one side of a balanced debate on the vital issues relating to Britain's membership of the European Union, as required under the terms of the 1996 Education Act.
The political interpretation of those figures is, of course, our own. To get the other side of the argument, readers will need to refer to, for example, the European Union's own website. A another useful site is the independently maintained EuroInternet, which carries a wide range of resources from governmental and independent sources.
